Structurally, this arrangement is why so many universities are heavily invested in the military industrial complex, in the oil industry, in surveillance systems, in carceral technologies... In whatever has the highest rate of return, consequences be damned.

If you look at these records, you start to understand that large private universities are basically investment funds, whose managers are tasked with investing the endowment in whatever has the highest return. Perpetual growth and a small portion of returns covers education costs.

Today, I tendered my resignation to Princeton University's Every Voice steering committee, which is planning the LGBTQ+ alumni conference. I do this in solidarity with students, faculty, and staff demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. I do not consent to pinkwashing.
