To protect & grow honeybee populations, including the hives located on campus, IU Biology undergrad Jillian Lewis is studying how the bacteria commonly found on & around bees can have a beneficial impact on the bees themselves.

This is extremely interesting. I remember back in the Pleistocene era when there was a big controversy over whether Rickettsia had plasmids (now we know of course they do). Looks like Wolbachia are similar!
