I am afraid the PM is clearly confusing a tourist visa with a work visa. The minute someone is paid they no longer qualify for a tourist visa which is why musicians are up in arms and why the Government needs to sort this out ‘Presto’

It is a quite remarkable fact that more time elapsed BETWEEN the painting of these ice age horses [LEFT: Chauvet cave >33,000 years ago and RIGHT: Niaux cave ~15,000 years ago] than has passed since the Niaux cave art and now!

The virus was doing pretty well ruining the livelihood of musicians but to destroy nine ensembles simultaneously is impressive even by its standards!

I have performed with the Locrian Ensemble in this venue and attend concerts there regularly. I am stunned and shocked. The musicians will be joining the homeless. Will they find sustenance or comfort at St Martin in the Fields? Shame on you! petitiononline.uk/we_demand_that…

My teacher Jane Cowan b otd 1915. 'Teacher' hardly expresses it: I would get 6 lessons a week from her; and we all studied harmony & history of music, sang madrigals under her direction, etc. Her passion for music was total, and she awoke the same passion in others. A great lady.

Go on, take a listen to a pianist born in 1824. You never know, it might speak to you. The 81-year-old Carl Reinecke. More about him here: classicalmusicguide.com/viewtopic.php?… soundcloud.com/charles-tebbs/…

Schoenberg on music theorists:

A junk dealer, having bought up a lot of old odds and ends, brings about some order as a by-product of picking out and sorting the better items. But the trash, which he can no longer sort, he leaves in a pile and says to a customer:

Another rarity for Harold Bauer's birthday: an unpublished 1936 broadcast of from 's , a work he didn't record. While not a note-perfect reading, the playing is extraordinary: a gorgeous sonority and fluid legato phrasing!

Ignaz Moscheles, composer/pianist, d 150 years ago otd. A minor figure, perhaps - but so lovely: a warm, generous personality, wonderfully supportive to the young Mendelssohn & an inspiration, and later friend, to Schumann; and a composer of so many warm-hearted, melodious works.
