This is such an important point. A shift to EVs, heat pumps or whatever does not in itself mean a reduction towards 'net zero'.

The police are being made into a laughing stock. Presumably issuing a ticket for 'standing' won't stand up!

Also: some benefits/costs are tricky to quantify & depend on our values:
A remainer may value a sense of 'belonging' or unity from EU membership.

That I value the democratic accountability from Brexit more highly does not mean either of us are bad people.

We just disagree.

The NFL seems mainly to clarify that Harrison Butker was speaking in 'in his personal capacity' not representing them. Hardly a condemnation as some have suggested.

Odd article: early on it says his remarks got 'some applause'. Only later we learn he 'received a standing ovation'!

Exactly this. Exactly.

Benefits exist.
Disbenefits exist.

Rejoiners denying that there are any benefits to leaving the EU, is as ridiculous as Brexiteers denying that there were any benefits to being a member of the EU.

EU membership involved benefits & costs.
Brexit involves benefits & costs.

It's fine to argue Brexit costs > benefits (I disagree), but those who continue to claim there are no benefits from Brexit are not arguing in good faith.

If in doubt, check out Gully Foyle #UKTrade's new list.

Most universities have moved back to in-person exams to some extent but the process is taking longer than it should.

However, it's not laziness: some academics genuinely believe (wrongly in my view) exams are a poor form of assessment.

Luckily AI reality is forcing change.

For anyone doubting the necessity of today’s intervention on sex-ed classes, last year’s Policy Exchange report ‘Asleep At The Wheel’ is essential reading. Responses to hundreds of freedom of information acts evidenced the widespread penetration of gender ideology throughout UK

“For a documentary about the right to die, this is an unflinching account of the urge to live.”
