These children have barricaded themselves against diggers sent to rip out the pedestrianisation outside their school.

It’s right to reduce traffic outside schools. It’s safer, healthier and better for the planet.

These kids know it. They’re heroes.

To cut toxic air pollution near schools and to reduce the number of kids getting hurt on London’s roads, we need more school streets not less. This is v concerning and I urge the Mayor of Tower Hamlets to reconsider.

As someone who regularly travels to continental Europe I'm amazed by the resistance to pedestrianise city centres in the UK.

Take Brussels: The Grand Place was pedestrianised on 21 March 1991. Unimaginable it would ever go back to being a car park.
