Before heading to NYC in March, after I signed out of the writer’s room feeling stressed about SOMETHING, I calmed my anxiety by breathing,

and then a voice said the below to me.

And I wrote it down on my whiteboard immediately.

Idk what May has for me but I believe in this.

Very excited for May’s sabbatical.

Got my door fixed and made it in time for the dinner, Praise God.

Sensuality takes life experience, which she’s said she’s had little of.

I don’t think that specific to her, but of the times. People don’t have time to meander into their careers. They’ve got to paint-by-numbers or else they’ll starve.

We miss ppl that have meandered.

We’d forget how to ruin ourselves, how to build a life, begin again, fall in love with colors, have affairs with places, food, books, debate with our Gods, desert them and come back to them…
All of this takes time. It’s impossible to do by even 30.

Always be protected and supported because without them, we’d forget.

And what is so worrying is ppl are forgetting how to do this, how to meander. There’s no time. The crush of it all —housing, food, survival— just sits on your chest. It’s hard. Most ppl are not strong enough to withstand those pressures, which is why the poets of living must

They have had no adventures. No failures. No great loves. No estrangements. No regrets. No time to sit with it all. They’ve never left home for other shores and came back home.
Lived in a hovel and made it romantic. Lived in a mansion and it was a prison.

Very few ppl have had the time to wander, to fail, to experience poverty and loss and it not crush them…we’re lacking art markers that have lived full lives before we meet them.

And even if they are young, the kind of ppl you can tell are squeezing life w/both hands

I’m at a jam session in Highland Park, and not me getting on stage to sing with the band.

It was so fun 🥹

I told my friend the first thing I wanna do now that I’m back in LA is go to the farmers market, and she goes, “As you should. Plums are back in season!”

When I tell you I got so damn excited…?
