There have been 10 new staff cases in Santa Rita Jail in the past week — that's more than the MONTHS of October and November combined. I'm praying that Alameda County Sheriff staff don't do anything stupid on New Year's Eve, which would put everyone in that jail in jeopardy.

Holy fucking shit. COVID cases in Santa Rita Jail just increased by 1250% overnight. Less than 1/3 of the jail is vaccinated. There are outbreaks among both staff & incarcerated ppl. Alameda County Sheriff is actively harming our community. They do NOT keep us safe.

There have been at least 27 new staff cases in the past week. This is exactly what we were afraid of: Alameda County Sheriff staff did some reckless ass shit over the holidays, and now the health & safety of everyone in the jail is jeopardized.

It just keeps getting worse at Santa Rita Jail. There are now 177 cases in the incarcerated pop — a 453% increase over yesterday — and at least 54 staff members have COVID. Our community is suffering because of Alameda County Sheriff’ constant & willful neglect during this pandemic.

This is the worst spike that Santa Rita Jail has seen in the entire pandemic. There have been 206 new COVID cases in the incarcerated population this week — that’s nearly 10% of the current jail population. The only way to mitigate this outbreak is immediate decarceration.

Decarcerate SRJ Now. Over 200 new infections already this year. When will policy makers start treating our collective public health seriously?
