Highlight of the day - supporting a 98 year old back to his brandy and lemonade after 3 months of drinking thickened water only following hospital discharge! 😭

'When doing nothing is doing everything.'
Another great episode of Clare's featuring Erica Borgstrom.

Palliative care needs a long term plan!

We’ve been a specialty for over 60 years.

Amazing work!

Now, we must go hard…training all healthcare providers to be comfortable & competent to provide palliative care.

Citizens deserve palliative care everywhere!

Right - I’m thinking of creating a presentation about red flags that indicate you’re probably in a toxic organisation. I’ve got my own list from a previous life, but interested to hear yours. NB “Gaslighting” can only be #1, #2 and #3

Hope for the best & plan for the rest…..

That’s the safest way to journey through a serious illness.

Walk both roads.

Hope & planning can coexist.

Hope & reality are complimentary.

Avoid toxic positivity in the face of progressive life limiting illness.

Had passenger screaming level bumpy flight into City airport. My default actions:
1: prepare to introduce myself to chap next to me. Felt we should be on first name terms if crisis occurred
2: phone ready for last message sending.
Not great tactics but all I could come up with!

Definition query: are ReSPECT forms being used as a Treatment Escalation Plan form (which in my view should only be a short term episode-specific plan and then be void), or longer term i.e. an Advance Care Plan (incl over multiple episodes of care, like a DNACPR form)?

You've just got time to secure a spot on tomorrow's My Future Care Buddy Service session.

Why not end the week by doing something important for yourself and your loved ones? It's a gentle process but oh, so rewarding! ⤵️
