When is the best time to start charging for photography? When the images do the work required by the client.

When this threshold is met, years of experience, your gear and personal doubt are irrelevant.

A lot of creatives will work for free or undervalue themselves because of the fear of missing out on an opportunity. But when the value doesn't match the work, the truth is that the opportunity is already gone. All that's left is an experience.

The BILD Expo is off to an amazing start. It was incredible to see so many inspiring photo presentations and photographers at the @nikonusa booth.

The best tools help facilitate a photographer’s vision, whether through technical performance or aesthetics or the process itself.

But most often, it’s the vision itself that is most essential.

Photo gear matters, but only to a point. The best gear makes the work so much easier, but it won’t replace the fundamentals of strong composition, sensitivity to lighting, anticipating the decisive moment and a unique vision as a creator.

Everyone wants to be sponsored by their favorite photo brands, but what does that mean? And how do you get there?

I'm speaking about my experience as a NikonUSA Ambassador at the BILD Expo in NYC on 9/7 from 2-3pm at the B&H Photo Video Creators Lounge, come hang.

This whole thread is an important point in why we have to fight for the value (and future) of music photographers.

There's nothing wrong with the idea of chasing your style. It's natural for it to change and evolve over time, as you gain new perspectives, insights and inspirations But know that style something you always have. Whether or not that's what you call it, or what it feels like.
