I'd really like it a lot if Democrats who go on national news shows this weekend insisted that topics of discussion be that the former president stole classified secrets and likely sold them, and that 11-year-olds are being forced to have incest babies. Thank you.

This is overt racism reminiscent of rhetori in the Jim Crow South. Except it's on a cable network nightly, & not relegated to klan rallies & White Citizens Council meetings. This level of hate & bigotry is what white politicians mean when they say 'anti-woke.' It's pathetic.

It's utterly absurd. But it'll be effective. And until progressives, and legitimate news organizations, understand the dangers of this and actively work to counter this BS with similarly compelling programming that highlights facts and truth, they'll be hurting.

I think it's important to acknowledge that it's a difficult situation. While I don't begrudge them making a private school choice, I do take issue with other things - like failing to support local schools and programs, and falling for really stupid (& usually bogus) quick fixes

I take issue with the continued shitting on everyone who serves on the Montgomery County Board of Ed or who works in that school system. It's BS. The top 35% of students, and almost all of the wealthy parents, have been removed. Try that anywhere and see what happens.

I need to be clear: I'm not saying Montgomery's private schools are today filled with the kids of racists. (There are some, but a tiny minority.) Those schools and parents are mostly good people trying to cope with a problem created by their ancestors.

Not just then. Check other key dates related to state court decisions regarding integration and busing. Almost every private school in Montgomery started right around one of those dates.

I didn't blame a parent. I stated the hard facts. Montgomery's system is struggling because of outright racism. Instead of attending school with Black kids, and lifting all children up through good education, Montgomery's white parents chose segregation. Over and over and over.
