How resilient is nature ? Well, I left this wheelbarrow here during the summer, now its full of wildflowers and the rainwater is full of larvae and small water beetles. We just need to stop killing it.

There are two types of #ShitLawns contractor. The one that will stick random bits of #ShitLawn wherever they can stick it, and the ones that flytip the offcuts on country lanes. Pick your poison

Of 6,300 recorded events of wild mammals on ReWild Wicklow trail cameras, a full 72% were sika deer. It's LONG past time sika lost their current legal protection in Ireland, and were reclassified as what they very clearly are: a highly invasive species. rte.ie/news/2024/0908…

Why did a species that fulfils all the criteria of an alien invasive - sika deer - and is killing off native ecosystems, spreading Lyme disease, causing incessant serious traffic accidents, etc., ever get protected status in Ireland? Damn good question.

Restorative works will be completed on 120ha of cutaway bog in the SAC & NHA network in 2024. It's exciting to see bog cotton and Sphagnum now emerging & naturally colonising rewetted bare peat areas.
