tik tok doesn't work in browsers anymore (unless you do some hack I don't have time for) and I'd really like to find a way to automate my texts to immediately respond "haha I can't watch that but the cover image looks funny lol" to all my friends who send them

while i'm already tweeting too much today, a casual reminder as you do course prep: if you (like me) tend to draft assignments and resources directly in your LMS, copy/paste that shit into Word right after you create it. Nothing is promised and your LMS/institution isn't forever.

I have nothing but admiration for midcareer scholars with unglamorous jobs who manage to research & write anyway. We should all be so tenacious.

Some of the responses about that “academic second book” thing reminded me that there are folks who think of academia as a calling, and others of us who think of it as a job.

We're traveling away from our pets for the first time in years, and experiencing a pet owner's worst nightmare. Our dog Artie got into our other dog's medication and ate 120 doses. She's at an ER vet now getting the care she needs, but the costs are incredible. Link in replies.

Oh gee, the job that invited me for a campus visit, tried to ignore the dates I said I was actually available, didn’t provide breakfast, and let a senior faculty member harass me repeatedly during my job talk “to see how you’d react” still hasn’t filled the position!? So wild.
