This kind of treatment is exactly why I started Redox OS from scratch and written primarily in Rust. There is a lot of resistance to even minor beneficial change in Linux and related projects. I don't even try to contribute to the Linux kernel anymore. phoronix.com/news/Rust-Linu…

Dortmund is indeed a great example for "Strukturwandel" - a word that describes the successful transformation from legacy industries to newer industries. Beside that Dortmund is also quite green and has a lot to offer when you come for a visit! I love it here.
