Who misses course handbooks? I’ve been pondering on them recently. I still have loads of mine from my UG years. For me there was no greater ease then digging in your bag for them & having a list of readings & prompts to hand. Is a paperless world really inclusive & accessible?

This is an absolutely brilliant project being run by Dr Ann-Marie Foster with the Imperial War Museums! Anne-Marie is currently looking for disabled, neurodivergent, chronically ill participants who use IWM’s collection to feedback their experiences. More info: iwm.org.uk/research/acces… #twitterstorians

Yday I came to Newcastle to give a presentation to staff in Northumbria’s humanities department on disability in higher education and creating inclusive environments. I leave crushing hard on the original 1930s staircase of my premier inn hotel.

I’m drinking a cuppa tea waiting for my archive in Durham to open &watching lots of graduates & their families queuing to enter the cathedral. All I can think about is how they’re missing out on a great photo opportunity by not posing with this rare penfold Victorian postbox

I - Lucie- do solemnly declare that I WILL NOT visit another archive till I have a whole draft of my book done and dusted. For there is enough stories and sources to grace a billion writing projects, and this is my #twitterstorians pledge for now, but not the foreseeable future.

Fill in the government survey by Wednesday 3rd July to save Disabled Students Allowance! The UK government wants to scrap Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), which pays for the support workers which enable some disabled students to access university. Read on for 3 actions:

I dearly love that some very very senior has ‘replied all’ to a university email. As I finish my resit marking I’m currently wondering what all those people who reply to ‘reply all’ emails are currently doing to avoid being the first person to reply to this reply all email.

I don’t understand why they think this such a threat. I’m happy to pay more tax for better services. I’ve been waiting for an operation on the urgent list since November. I would much have a functioning NHS, education and social services for all then continue this downward spiral

Britain will have a new government tonight. But no new hope. This is why it is important that Jeremy Corbyn and as many Green MPs are elected to hold two-faced Starmer to account.

My article has finally been put into an issue. So I’m happy to re-announce that ‘Capturing homosocial words in the photographs of the Rugby Club, 1885-1920’ is out, out for #twitterstorians interested in snaps, #WW1, gender, friendship, touch etc. OA here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/14…

#twitterstorians what’s your favourite scholarship on neighbours/ neighbourhoods? I’m looking at the late Victorian- Edwardian period. My place unit is the city. I’m looking at cross-class relationships. I’ve got cheek by jowl by Emily Cockayne.

#twitterstorians they’re are so many brilliant c19th working-class autobiographies I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed! So if you had to choose one that discusses marriage for a 2nd gender history module which one would you pick?

Just call me the llama whisperer. I said ‘hello’ to this little chappy &they wandered over to me asking for a head stroke. As I’m at a writing retreat I tried asking them if think my book will be done soon &they had no answers. Sooooo we are both a bit clueless in our happy state

I’m truly disgusted in what is happening at the moment. I’m ashamed to be English. But none of this should be surprising given how we’ve lived in a country stocked by hatred&division & where austerity is a political choice. Britain is—& has always been- richer with diversity.

Have any #twitterstorians written or read anything about how history in HE values teaching and helps with the development of our lecturer-teacher identities. Writing a point on how we could see more teaching stuff in academic journals & wondered if there’s some good stuff I use.

Is there any better writing joy then getting chapter comments that say ‘excellent contribution… basically a hit’ &then reading the in-text comments & thinking I can do this 💪🏻 (I realise that this is super boastful but after two of the hardest R&Rs of my life this is nice!)

I absolutely adored this novel and feel like it’s a book I’m going to think about a lot. It’s partially set during the pandemic but it’s not dystopian lit. It’s quiet and provides the backdrop to a mother telling her story about the summer she dated an actor. #amreading
