SE England's geology in a picture: chalk escarpment, buildings made of locally fired clay and actual outcrops of rocks quite hard to spot.

@AmicidellaVoce are a great octet a capella group that got rave reviews at the last Festival. A programme from Debussy to Vaughan Williams and Chilcott. Well worth a ticket! bit.ly/3PsYoOT

These are fabulous!
Final image looks like a classic augen - large feldspar crystal wrapped by other weaker qtz/mafic crystals that have been reduced in size by deformation.
The others are less clear - same but later recrystallisation? Metamorphic texture?
Any other ideas?

A special place, haunt of Gawain's green knight. Lidar image shows it's a tear in the rocks, where they've slid downhill.
They contain 300 million year old plant fossils - this place was green even then.

A UK specific stone question: is there a standard commercial source of gravel that contains fossils.
Something used by the trade that just happens to contain fossils. I've seen examples in the past - any ideas?

An art-work returning a glacial erratic back to where it came from.
Given the many ways rock moves about, I'm not sure 'rightful home' is a good term but interesting idea

The Frank Martin and Pizzetti pieces were sounding proper lush in rehearsal last night. Complex multi-part writing and a wide range of emotions in both.

Come to our concert on Saturday 25th in central Oxford to hear what I mean.
