I’m not sure what it’s supposed to show that Abramson first used the word “Russiagate” with his usual conspiratorial glee, then later decided suddenly that it was birtherism to use his own terminology. Is that a “receipt” that he’s crazy? A perfect self-satire? What exactly?

« Russiagate » was actually the term embraced by the hardest-core BlueAnon nuts before the story fell apart. Just like « Deep State, » the term’s origin story is being rewritten.

This is even dumber. You can hate Trump all you want, but his opposition to Nord Stream wasn't about 'blaming America.' On the contrary it was a nationalist move, bluntly telling Europe it would pay (literally) if it chose Russian gas over American LNG.

One of the dumbest consequences of Russiagate is stuff like this - people believing there was romance/synergy between Trump and Putin when Trump was imposing sanctions to try to stop Russia's top geopolitical objective, the pipeline.

Trump was a constant opponent of Nord Stream. He said it would open up Europe to “extortion and intimidation' and imposed stiff sanctions on companies that worked on the pipeline, including European ones - sanctions the Biden administration clawed back.

“We have made clear to the Russians that pipeline is at risk if they move further into Ukraine” was a quote from what current White House official, last January 14th? Answer below:

What other retired general said about the likelihood of Russia blowing up Nord Stream, “It’s the closest thing to a smoking gun… without the direct proof?” See below: taibbi.substack.com/p/who-blew-up-…

Which retired general went on TV and said, regarding the Nord Stream sabotage, “We have to conclude without the evidence... that Russia is the likely cause of it”? See below: taibbi.substack.com/p/who-blew-up-…

This great new video by Matt Orfalea shows just how much of the history of America's bellicose opposition to the Nord Stream project was either whitewashed or misrepresented after the pipelines were sabotaged:

The United States made stopping the Nord Stream pipeline a centerpiece of its foreign policy for nearly a decade. All that history mysteriously vanished the instant the pipelines exploded. More here, with a great new video by Matt Orfalea
