Berlin's S-Bahn is 100 years old! 🎂 The first electrified S-Bahn hit the tracks on 8 August 1924. The now iconic logo was designed by Fritz Rosen in 1930. Born to a Jewish family, Rosen had to flee from the Nazis and moved to the UK where he stayed until his death in 1980.

On 13 August 1961, construction of the Berlin Wall began. In the early hours of the morning, barbed wire fences were erected, dividing the city in two and tearing families and friends apart. Between 1961-89, at least 140 people were killed at the Berlin Wall.
