The #ADA could not be passed today. Electeds donā€™t care about disability issues. I met with a GA Republican legislator to ask for less than 0.5% of the $16B surplus (taxpayer $) to deinstitutionalize disabled folks. His answer: ā€œYou canā€™t expect manna to rain down from heaven.ā€

We're in the middle of a summer COVID wave, and yet we keep losing resources that tell us how much the virus is spreading. The degradation of COVID data is "an indication of the willingness to leave disabled and chronically ill people behind" New Disabled South 's Dom Kelly told me.

Please read and share this story about Alabamaā€™s horrific HCBS program that is leaving disabled people to die. Families are being retaliated against. And, Alabama is not alone. This damning investigation from Ash Peterson is so important and the result of many months of work.

"Enforcing the mask ban is subjective and will disproportionally impact Black people and people of color, who are more likely to be stopped by police and are also more likely to wear masks to prevent Covid." Great op-ed in STAT by K. Costello, PhD statnews.com/2024/08/20/masā€¦

1/3 The death penalty is disproportionately applied to multi-marginalized communities. If a person is disabled, Black, poor, or lacks access to quality education, their likelihood of facing execution increases. In Mr. Allahā€™s case, all factors are present: shorturl.at/OVuo2
