The Junior and Middle School at Albert College participated in a #WalkforWenjack , walking a total of 350 km while wearing purple. Students also brought in money to donate and in total, $784 was raised! The Senior School joined the Walk for Wenjack and in total logged 762 km.
Today, Ecole McTavish staff took part in a Secret Path collaborative gallery walk. It was an incredibly powerful moment listening to the lyrics sung by Gord Downie and reflecting on the long path Chanie Wenjack took. Today, students and staff came together to Walk for Wenjack! Throughout the week, classes read, “The Secret Path,” and learned more about Canada’s residential schools and Chanie Wenjack’s journey. St. Patrick is a Downie Wenjack Fund legacy school. 💜

We found out that walking 600 kilometres would be the distance between London and Cornwall. Chanie was incredibly brave for attempting this journey to be reunited with his family. May we always honour his life and legacy in promoting truth and reconciliation. Downie Wenjack Fund
