Interesting threads coming through in our teacher retention book so far:
- Belonging and psychological safety
- Professional trust and agency

Without these things, people leave.

We don't have a signature solution.

We don't have a 5 step process.

We have expertise, conversation, and care.

We take care of the adults in schools so that they can take care of the kids.

I want our teachers to have agency - to be reflective, creative and critical thinkers in the classroom.

That's the best way to nurture their students to be reflective, creative and critical thinkers too.

There is no magic lever for retaining good people.

There is only time, attention, and care.

Having a terrible school administrator can literally ruin your life — mentally, emotionally, financially, socially. The gaslighting, manipulation, ineptitude, deception. Smh. I am so sorry for any who have been forced to suffer through this.
