No date has been given for a new Lidl to open in a Wirral town despite past promises it would already be built. A planning application submitted in 2022 said it hoped the new Lidl would be built by the end of 2023. The land is due to be sold this year

'As for whether Liverpool would ever host the competition again? In a heartbeat.”

I looked back with everyone at the centre of the contest - local council, fans, organisers, the BBC and more - to see what made Liverpool's Eurovision Song Contest so special ✨

Emily Spurrell echoes Steve Rotheram call for a general election. She also thanks her campaign team and says she’s grateful for the support she’s had as a new mum. Her baby was born just a few weeks ago. She thanks the public for putting their trust in her again.

As we wait for the result, Emily Sleight and I caught up with Green Party candidate Cllr Tom Crone (he/him) who is hoping to take second place in the Mayoral ballot.

He said the party has done well nationally and feels it will be a close battle between him and the Lib Dems

Grabbed a minute with Liberal Democrat candidate Rob McAllister-Bell 🔶 who said he was hopeful of a second place finish.

He said turnout was “not a ringing endorsement for Labour” and his position would depend on areas where other elections were being run

The man they all want to beat, Steve Rotheram is in confident mood ahead of the result.

He told me how the past few days have been good for Labour nationally and would reflect well going into a general election

Caught up with Conservative candidate Jade Adamowicz Marsden who said she is happy with her campaign.

She said she had to be selective of where to campaign given Labour’s stronghold on the region but had “put out a decent campaign and showed respect to voters.”
