It's a real shame no one has built a Lord of the Rings-themed version of the Eflteling in Warwickshire, complete with Hobbit houses to stay in.

Thanks to the person who flagged to me that this individual is, and I quote, “a paid instructor & PhD candidate at Columbia studying ‘theories of the imagination & poetry as interpreted through a Marxian lens’.”

Of course they are.

The Westbury Estate (left) has to be one of the most depressing things to look at in London. But these (right) aren't even one mile away.

We should copy and paste the latter many times over the former to give the people who live there an enormous boost to their quality of life.

The situation has actually been a bit more complex. Up until the 1920s, the TFR of London was higher than that of all of France. Urbanization is one factor, but the fertility difference between London and Paris in the past was even greater than between the UK and France.
