The event was brought to an end with Sabby Dhalu thanking everyone for taking the time and effort to join the Stand Up To Racism International Conference and a final loud chant filled the room
“Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here!”
Sabby Dhalu went on to say that we can not become complacent, while in Britain the far right force may not be on the same level of other countries “we have empowered the most racist government we have ever seen.”
Sabby Dhalu then spoke about the importance of unity “including uniting with those with different views,” and about challenging all forms of racism, “Islamophobia, antisemitism, racism toward refugees and migrants, gypsy, Roma and travelling communities.”
Diane Abbott MP referred to the policies as expensive and only there “to feed reactionary sentiment in the Tory Party and line the pockets of abominable corporations that trade in human misery.”
Stand Up To Racism Co-Convener, Sabby Dhalu, shared a message of support from the President of Stand Up To Racism, Diane Abbott MP. The message covered her thoughts on the Tories intention to “expand their disastrous immigration policies.”
ΠΕΤΡΟΣ ΚΩΝΣΤΑΝΤΙΝΟΥ finished by saying we have to fight against the normalisation of fascists and we have to call them by their names.
“Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome everywhere in our countries, the fascists are not welcome.”
Christine Buchholz’s spoke about how empowering it is to learn from the experience of others “We have learned from history and will not allow history to repeat itself.”
