3rd September, 2009 Private Gavin Elliott, aged just 19, from Woodsetts, Rotherham, and of 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment, was shot and killed whilst on a foot patrol, by insurgents in Babaji District, Helmand Province, Afghanistan Lest we Forget this brave teenager 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

4th September, 2006 Gunner Stephen Wright, aged 20 from Leyland, and Gunner Samuela Vanua, aged 27 from Suva, Fiji, both of 58 (Eyre's) Battery, 12 Regiment Royal Artillery, were killed by a roadside IED blast in Ad Dayr, Iraq Lest we Forget these brave young men 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇫🇯🇬🇧

4th September,2006 Private Craig O'Donnell, aged 24 from Clydebank, of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, was killed after his convoy was attacked by a suicide bomber in Kabul, Afghanistan Lest we Forget this brave Scotsman🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

4th September, 2008 Ranger Justin James Cupples, aged 29 from County Cavan, Ireland, and of 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment, was killed by an IED blast whilst on foot patrol in Sangin, Helmand Province, Afghanistan Lest we Forget this brave man who gave his all 🇬🇧

5th September, 2007 Sergeant Eddie Collins, aged 33 from Milford Haven, of 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment and 22 SAS, was shot and killed whilst leading a secret operation to arrest a senior Al-Qaeda member in Baghdad, Iraq Lest we Forget this brave man who gave his all🇬🇧

5th September, 2007 Private Damian Wright, age 23 from Mansfield, and Private Ben Ford, age 18 from Chesterfield, both of 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment, were killed by an IED blast whilst on patrol near Lashkar Gah,Helmand Province Lest we Forget these brave young men🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

5th September, 2010 Captain Andrew Griffiths,age 25 from Richmond, of 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, from injuries sustained in action in Nahr-e Saraj, Helmand Province, 12 days earlier Lest we Forget this hero🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

5th September, 2010 Lance Corporal Joseph Mcfarlane Pool, aged 26 from Dumfries, of the Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, was killed by a Taliban grenade attack in Nad 'Ali, Helmand Province, Afghanistan Lest we Forget this brave man 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧

6th September, 2006 Lance Corporal Paul Muirhead, aged 29 from Bearley, of 1 Royal Irish Regiment, died in Khoula Hospital, Muscat, Oman, from wounds received 5 days previously when the Taliban attacked his base in Musa Qala, Helmand Province Lest we Forget this brave man 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

6th September, 2006 Lance Corporal Luke McCulloch, aged 21, born in Cape Town, lived in Gillingham, Kent, of 1 Royal Irish Regiment, was killed by a Taliban mortar attack in Sangin, Helmand Province, Afghanistan Lest we Forget this brave young man who gave his all 🇿🇦🇬🇧

7th September, 2006 Gunner Lee Thornton, aged 22 from Blackpool, of 58 (Eyre's) Battery, 12 Regiment Royal Artillery, died from gunshot injuries sustained 2 days earlier whilst on patrol in Al Qurna, north of Basra, Iraq Lest we Forget this brave young Lancashire man 🌹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

In the next 6 months, in addition to our usual remembrance, we aim to lay flowers at the graves in Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Lothian, of those brave soldiers who lost their lives in The Troubles Lest we Forget 🙏

7th September,2012 Guardsman Karl Whittle, aged 22 from Bristol, of 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, from gunshot wounds sustained on August 14th 2012, in Nahr-e Saraj, Helmand Province, Afghanistan Lest we Forget this brave man🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

Karl was shot 12 times at close range by insurgents whilst he was at a checkpoint, and fought courageously for over 3 weeks before succumbing to his injures, what a strong young man he must have been 🙏 🇬🇧
