In a week of international justice flexing its muscle, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea rules:

Indeed, this is precisely the 'equivalence' at the heart of universal human rights, that guides the work of the International Criminal Court.

Canada should:

✅Affirm the independence of the ICC
✅Reiterate the House motion supporting the ICC's investigation
✅State that it will abide by any decisions, incl. if they require 🇨🇦 to enforce warrants
✅Note that only courts can determine guilt, & all are presumed innocent.

Hard to imagine a greater test of 🇨🇦’s commitment to a rule-based int’l order. Will 🇨🇦 protect the ICC’s independence; condemn efforts to interfere with its work; & make clear that ICC judges have 🇨🇦’s full support with their examination of the application for arrest warrants?
