Council has awarded a $1.96 million contract to SprayLine Road Services for the annual supply of the City’s bituminous spray sealing works program. Works will start in November and finish in June next year.

The community will be consulted on a proposal for the City to lease 20m2 of Highton Reserve to Amplitel for a telco monopole. The proposed monopole would be capable of co-locating Vodafone and Telstra transmitters and also host AFL standard sports lighting.

A proposed planning scheme amendment that would allow for the redevelopment of the Norlane Community Initiatives site and expansion of its services will be publicly exhibited. The not-for-profit organisation is proposing a building extension, pergola, carpark and other works.

A 10-yr strategy to enhance one of the region’s last remnants of continual biodiversity has been endorsed. The Southeast Bellarine Coast (4W-Collendina) Coastal and Marine Management Plan looks at a stretch of marine and coastal environments between Collendina and Point Lonsdale.

Council has endorsed the release of the draft Hamlyn Park Recreation Reserve Master Plan for public consultation. It proposes development of new change rooms to support netball participation and upgrades of other facilities, such as the Geelong Ballroom Dance Club building.

The community will have its say on the draft Myers Reserve Master Plan. Identified priorities for the Bell Post Hill reserve include relocation of the netball courts and bowls greens, refurbishment of the pavilion, new facilities for soccer and bowls and more trees.

Further investigations will be made into a proposal to relocate McAteer’s Bluestone Cottage to Marshall Reserve following a feasibility study. Built in 1856, the cottage was dismantled and stored by Major Road Projects Victoria last year during works to duplicate Barwon Heads Rd.

As part of its adoption of the Highton Village Urban Design Framework, Council also called for a 2022-23 budget allocation of $606,000 to be spent on paving and laneway upgrades as soon as practically possible.

- A maximum building height of 9m on Belle Vue Ave
- Retaining the Belle Vue Ave roundabout and access to the service road
- Retaining the clocktower
- No net loss of parking
