Today we were honoured to host a wreath laying ceremony in Canberra with the Hurricanes Rugby and ACT Brumbies teams ahead of tomorrow’s match and in commemoration of Anzac Day.

After a busy but pleasant Anzac Day programme in Canberra High Commissioner Needs topped the day off by sharing a special moment with his youngest son Oliver at the Australian War Memorial Last Post Ceremony where the pair laid a wreath.

The NZ High Commission was honoured to welcome His Excellency Mr Andrew Needs and his family to Canberra as he commences his role as New Zealand High Commissioner to Australia.

High Commissioner Needs was welcomed by staff delivering a mihi whakatau, a form of official Māori welcome, and was gifted a kākahu, a traditional Māori cloak, as a symbol of honour and respect.
