On this day in 1915, more than 70,000 allied troops landed at Gallipoli.

20,000 of them were Australian and New Zealander soldiers.

As we mark , we show gratitude for their sacrifice and the role they played in the First World War.

Today, The Duke of Edinburgh attended commemorations in London, marking the anniversary of the Gallipoli landings.

His Royal Highness laid a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of The King and attended the Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.
