1 Hobby hunting, alarming the breeding Curlews,v close view as it passed Swantail.

Nice morning cycle to Naburn and Askham Bog. 1 x Corn Bunting from the cycle track at Naburn York Birding and Bee Orchids the highlights.

Over the moon to find two singing spotted flycatchers on my late BTO Breeding Bird Surveys visit this morning. The first in many years in my Gilling East square. Always hope!

Thx to great detective work by Craig LDV NNR I now know that the colour-ringed Great Egret at North Duffield Carrs on 11th May was ringed in Somerset a year ago. It moved to Dorset in Sept, then N. Ireland in Jan, before heading back to Dorset in April. A well-travelled bird!

This week the team have also managed to install a new viewing screen at North Duffield Carrs overlooking the New Meadow and wild bird crop, with more improvements to follow over the summer. Huge thanks to everyone who has supported the Friends and made this project possible.
