Genuine question: Do folks see Scream movies for the labryinthian continuity and the continuation of the Prescott legacy? Or do they go to see a dude in a cool mask kill people by weaponing horror conceits? The last few films have had virtually nothing to say about the genre.

I often lay in bed at night and ponder life's most nagging existential question: Why was there never a final Hannibal novel in which Will Graham was tasked with finding Clarice Starling and working with her to escape Lecter's influence?

The issue with the Scream franchise is that it's become a meditation on generational trauma -- how a tragedy creates a killer whose tragedies create a killer (as if psychopath were a light-switch) -- and veered from having anything to say or weaponize about the genre itself.

Just saw somebody comment on this that nobody who watches Star Trek watches Dr. Who... I've written for Star Trek and I have, I dunno, about a thousand pitches for Who that I would write tomorrow FOR FREE just to play in that sandbox. Of course folks want this.

Had such a blast chatting all things Star Trek with Matt Okumura (mattokumura on bluesky/threads) and inglorioustrek at STLV this afternoon. The previous panel with a whole host of amazing Trek writers was such a humbling, celebratory group to be a part of… Beyond honored to be a member of this family…

Well, damn... Bill Lawrence has yet again nailed it.... Bad Monkey is very much my thing and a wildly entertaining offering in the wry, charming, idiot-criminal genre. Justified lives in my head rent-free and this might be in the apartment next door...

There's a lot of love at the DNC. Like, honest, familial love. And I've never been more aware of how unloved and unlovable Trump seems. His family doesn't talk about him in those terms -- as a father or a husband -- just failed businessman, politician and all around human being.

We're screwed. Trump just got the endorsement of a dude who staged the accidental death and disposal of roadkill he previously intended to eat in Central Park. So...

Amazing D&D campaign with Game Masters for Hire tonight. Great friends, great adventure, great DM, super reasonable rates. If you’re curious to play or an experienced player looking to set up a game, this is a terrific service to gather around, roll dice and tell stories.

How’s this for a Glengarry cast: Wendell Pierce (Shelly), Don Cheadle or Denzel (Roma), Idris Elba (Blake), Chewitel Ejiofor (Williamson), Jeffery Wright (Moss)… The original white-male lens isn’t a requirement. There’d be huge value in an all-black or all-female interpretation.
