Children in Bulengo and Lushagala all scared from the recent shellings of IDP sites. This has to be stopped for once and for all.

The intensification of fighting in recent months has worsened an already precarious situation for children in eastern DR Congo. Ted Chaiban visited the internally displaced persons sites of Bulengo and Lushagala on the outskirts of Goma, homes to over 36,500 families.

Here are just a few from our fantastic WFP Sudan team. Admire their determination to stay and deliver in one of the most challenging crises imaginable. They, and the people we serve in Sudan, need international attention and support.

2023 saw a shocking 72% rise in civilian deaths in armed conflicts. This is an indictment of our humanity. It's time for parties to conflict to comply with their obligations and for world leaders to end the depravity of war. My message for #PoCWeek2024:

Even wars have rules. Yet, civilians continue to pay the highest price in conflicts around the world. UN Humanitarian has 5 severe dangers faced by civilians caught in the crossfire of conflict.

In #DRC, peacekeepers from MONUSCO are conducting joint patrols with the Congolese armed forces in #NorthKivu to ensure the protection of civilians & prevent free movement of armed groups. The patrols are carried out in response to alerts from communities & intelligence reports.
