Inspiring to be at Dr. Marlene Ågerstrand’s keynote at #SETACSeville! When discussing examples of good chemical regulations, Marlene highlighted #PMT substance policy as supporting innovation and research to reduce exposure of hazardous substances!
Excited for the upcom8ng IPCP - International Panel on Chemical Pollution social, organized by our wonderful board! #SETACSeville Dr. Marlene Ågerstrand zhanyu
One more #PlastChem poster, featuring our awesome evidence map on toxicity of plastics leachates (lots of hard work in there!), is on display today #SETACSeville, poster area 1, 268. See also plastchem-project.org Mⓐrtin Wⓐgner Hans Peter Arp Jane Muncke Zhanyun Wang Utox_Eawag
What's your "favorite" omics method? The session I co-chaired with Denina Simmons today #SETACSeville ventured "beyond transcriptomics", diving deep into metabolomics' and (phospho)proteomics' insights into toxicity mechanisms and environmental effects of chemicals Utox_Eawag
Also a great poster spotlight talk given by Christoph Schür in Thursday's NAMs session #SETACSeville. He could also have taken longer than 5 min, as the two other spotlight presenters didn't show up (what, really?!), but his pitch was also perfectly timed - impeccable, as usual 👌👏👏
Enjoyed the #SETACSeville session co-chaired by Terje Svingen, You Song and Claudia de Lima e Silva, focusing on "better alignment of AOPs and NAMs". I'm a fan of both 🤓 and yes, AOP is a "NAM" itself, but also a very useful framework to make sense of other NAMs Maurice EURL ECVAM
Excited about the upcoming start of the large mesocosm experiment on-site Eawag to explore combined effects of heat waves and chemicals. 60-bucket strong setup by Markus Hermann and team, tirelessly working each day, rain or shine👏👏👏 Henner hollert Thomas Backhaus Utox_Eawag
Engaged in discussions with Thomas Backhaus and Henner hollert, preparing for our Thursday session focused on chemical effects on biodiversity - the first time ever World Biodiversity Forum 2024 in Davos
Though I deeply respect Sir David, the saying by emma sayer that "nobody cared about #plastics until the 2018 docu and now look, how fast!" is simply NOT true and doesn't do justice to all those who diligently worked for decades to raise the pushback at the scale we witness today
Last night had a pleasure to hang out with 'real', hardcore ecologists and evolutionary biologists 🙂 World Biodiversity Forum Thoroughly enjoyed the conversations, though must admit that some technicalities e.g. regarding genomic assembly for cryptic species were just beyond my grasp 😅
There at last! Our brand new joint Mass Spectrometry Facility MSF Eawag opens its doors to deliver new advances in omics, organics, elemental and isotopic analyses for study and management of aquatic environment and water resources 🥳 Utox_Eawag Marco E. Franco
