A very lovely butterfly spotted with many of its friends on this evening's walk (the final walk of the latest heatwave and maybe the summer in #Jena?).

Alex Bruch and I wrote a book chapter on RNA regulation in human/animal fungal pathogens (likely already a bit out of date). You can wait for the better version in November, or check out our self-archived PDF if you are a fan of things RNA + fungi. blangolab.com/publication/20…

I never think to take photos, but I was followed shortly after by a lovely talk on the value of studying Fusarium oxysporum as a human pathogen by Slavica Janevska

I very much enjoyed #MBF2024 in Kiel this week. An added bonus was the multiple bird-filled parks along the walk to the venue. Next week, we host the #dmykg24 in Jena, and I can confirm that we also provide plenty of crittery walking options...

Morning fueled by FungiDB mug. Hoping that the efforts for alternative funding avenues will allow these resource to keep providing their unique and key services and grow.

Fungal Disease Awareness Week is September 16-20. Each day will highlight a different fungal disease topic. For #FungalWeek24, raise awareness to help protect people, plants, and animals from the growing impact of fungal diseases. bit.ly/4dyCy6u

Moderately to completely biased, but Amelia Barber gave a very exciting talk on the emerging Candida parapsilosis problem in Germany at the annual #dmykg24 conference today in #Jena.

A nice review of a very cool system showing a reliance on tRNA modification of wobble uridines in the anticodon to control effector translation during plant infection by M. oryzae. Interested to see how/if this mechanism translates (pun?) to human pathogenic fungi.
