Can this Cimbex be identified to species? Given size (I did think it was a Hornet when I first saw it!) I think connatus, but worried it doesn't show enough black. Riverside, dominated by Willow and Alder.

It’s mid-summer and the breeding season is in full swing, with numerous species of rare breeding birds to find, record and report to help the work of the RBBP. Here’s some suggestions from Panel Secretary Mark Eaton

Not much of a fan of these hot, humid summer days. The hay-fever is awful. A glorious sky for a THE BIRDER'S STORE shop first though. A high flying calling Common Tern north a few minutes ago.

Trying out a macro lens (thanks Ian Butler!) What better to try it out on than some moths! 129 of 65 species last night in Bewdley garden, including highlights of Least Carpet, Lesser Wax Moth & a couple of stunning Honeysuckle Moths.

Flukey moth find on the way back from my raptor viewpoint. My first ever Scarce Forest Tubic! #WyreForest is the only regular site for this rare West Mids moth but never been lucky enough to find one. Finding one sat in a country hedge away from the forest was a bit of a shock!

Not quite the Raptor I was hoping to find on this mornings vantage point survey, but this Marsh Harrier was enjoyed as it flew SW over NW Worcestershire. A fledged juv Goshawk skimming the treetops over a 'new' territory site, found earlier this year was fantastic #WorcsBirds

A raucous c400 strong Jackdaw flock went crazy a few times this morning. It was no surprise when this circled up over those same fields after it had flushed all of them. A juvenile Goshawk. Always an enjoyable garden bird! #WorcsBirds

Please note at #uptonwarren the "A38 field" + field to the north o Moors access track / North Moors Pool are currently for sale. The former has benefited the reserve greatly recently with beneficial planting atrracting large finch flocks. Worrying times. Worcs Wildlife Trust Worcester Birding

After this mornings seabird fest, great to enjoy outrageous views of the adult Semipalmated Sandpiper on Marazion beach, running between beachgoers to reach its favoutite patch of seaweed with the Turnstones

When your day starts with two Spotted Redshanks and ends with a Greenshank dropping into roost at Grimley CLP. Ideal! #WorcsBirds
