Although this month may not have seemed that warm, it is on course to be the warmest May on record. This shows that it is the easiest record to break as it is only 1.4°C between the 1991-2023 average and the highest May temperature.

We have recently had 12 months in a row where the global temperature has exceeded 1.5°C above the pre-industrial average. This is due to land use change and humans releasing fossil fuels into the atmosphere. This compares global temperature to fossil fuel emissions.

We use 30 year averages to show climatology (average weather conditions). During the 20th century the UK climatology followed a path around a confined box. With and they have escaped out the box. This shows UK rainfall and temperature.

January in the UK was more or less an average month for temperature and rainfall. This however, belied the wet and mild start and end of the month and the cold dry middle that ensured it was sunny. Here is a showing climate/weather summary for past year.

Just entered little picture competition from ESA Climate Office and made a couple of pictures, but just noticed it was only one entry per person, here is a sea level rise little picture I didn't enter! Hopefully the one I did enter will have some success ;-)

Here in the UK, after a hot, dry sunny June and a cool wet dull July, August was slightly warm, slightly dry and a bit dull. It may not have seemed it but it was the 8th warmest summer on record and the wettest in the top 10 warmest summers.
