Not being satisfied with there being only 24 hours in a day, Patrick Georgoff, MD literally flew across an entire ocean just to have more day to dominate. 💪

Here he is going over the basics of hemorrhage control. 🩸

The inappropriately rough handling of tissues is a proximate cause of many complications and deaths, though it won’t be listed this way in any database.

It may get recorded as sepsis, or bleeding, or respiratory failure, but these are often secondary to the initial insult.

1940 drawing of what appears to be an open subtotal fenestrating cholecystectomy (here called a 'partial cholecystectomy').

From book by Waltman Waters in 1940. Waters was from Mayo and was chief editor of Archives of Surgery (which later became JAMA Surgery).

You are picked to run a fellowship in Open Surgery for the newly designated Hospital for Open Surgery. You may design the curriculum and pick the patients to be referred to the H.O.S.

What open procedures are your fellows learning?

(you're also helping me write a talk here...)
