A thought as I walk home through DC: If we’re going to make public smoking of marijuana legal, let’s get rid of all public drinking laws and push everything to nuisance/disruptive behavior. The weed annoys me more than the drink…but the drunks annoy me more than the potheads.

It occurs to me that while we may know more people as we grow older, there are fewer we can call, say “I need help,” and they’re putting their shoes on before they ask, “What do you need?” Someone saved my bacon today. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.
