“A 25 year lens” love this! The NHS is often very short term in its lens, reforms every 3 years! To improve health inequalities and see the results could take a generation. We should not give up because it’s hard to measure Nigel Edwards Prof James Kingsland

“This should include a 10’ year moratorium on any further imposed structural reform” In the past 4 years, even if we ignore the small matter of a pandemic, we have had PCNs, ICSs & are now getting ready for INTs. We need time to embed and evaluate what works & what doesn’t

We have intentionally demolished the small practice model which provided continuity with ease. We reap what we sow & now are left with faceless large practices where patients are numbers not people

Is this the end of the GP independent contractor model? “Funding for PCNs as they become INTs, may come from a lead provider organisation rather than stay with general practice itself”As ICSs have local control of funding, is general practice going to be preserved or sacrificed?

Nearly 1 in 5 under 2 year olds waited in A&E for over 4 hours. This is data from July & is going to get worse this winter. The question asked: how much further do wait times have to deteriorate till we describe it as a red flag for patient safety. I believe we are already there

The health paradox: a dearth of doctors and a surplus of applicants | Financial Times < Very good summary of a silly situation ft.com/content/3f8c35…

Amazing article from an A level student “why lock us out when we are needed?” As both a GP struggling to recruit GPs to work for me & a parent of one of the unlucky 84% who got rejected from medical school this year, I am not only angry but perplexed at this paradox. Jeremy Hunt

“A constructive debate would be what a future NHS workforce should look like & how we reduce demand by preventing ill health in the first place. A debate on the nation’s health, not just its health service, is due”

Now that Therese Coffey is no longer health secretary, DHSC should prioritise the publication of the Inequalities white paper that was due for release last spring.
Take a look at PPPs recent policy report on how we should reduce health inequalities.

People working in our hospitals to save the lives of others are paid so little they now have food banks on site. When did we stop caring for the carers?

Our new Prime Minister promises to put our needs above politics & fill our future with hope. Let us hope that includes policies that will fill the empty stomachs of so many of our youngest who currently live in much poverty Newham London 💙
