Nex Benedict, a 16-yr-old Choctaw Indigenous gender-fluid teen in OK, was brutally assaulted in a bathroom by their classmates & school officials didn't even call an ambulance. Nex died the next day.

3/3 ... there's an exciting and tangible payoff! This creates a unique learning situation, where part of the learning is concrete – literally embodied, put into the muscle memory of the fingers –new pathways are being created across the two hemispheres of the brain.

2/2 The magic is in combining encouragement to be curious and ask new and different questions with a physical, bodily practice. In learning string figures, kids get to make lots of mistakes that don't matter, and then when they 'get' the figure they're trying to learn...
