In “Britain Is Better Than This” I compare Boris Johnson’s comments on Africa p313 ff with the Ladybird children’s book on Africa published in the 1960s (Flight Five Africa.) The Ladybird version appears to be still alive for some in the Conservative Party.

At the Conservative party conference in October 2016 Boris Johnson referred to Africa as “that country.” Fact: there are more than 50 countries in Africa. Another Fact:
Boris Johnson (Eton and Oxford) was then the UK’s Foreign Secretary.

We asked Gavin Esler to watch a month’s worth of GB News to gauge the nature of the messages promoted and framed by its presenters. He survived—just.

Here’s what he thought👇

So - (see below) - Ofcom listens to what “audiences have told us.” If anyone on Twitter likes Rees-Mogg Farage Tice Anderson and other politicians having free political advertising on G B “News” (or if you DON’T) Ofcom would like
to hear from you …

So G B “News” is not news even if it presents itself as news? In an election year politicians propagandising their views on matters of public policy in something that calls itself “news” doesn’t count as news for Ofcom? Seriously?

Folkestone people I need your help. Can we get as many people as possible together on Sunny Sands TODAY (Wednesday) at 6.30pm to say we don't want any more people dying crossing the Channel?

I know you are anonymous and I can only imagine why, but even the dimmest troll probably understands that G B News has sitting MPs and party leaders as presenters. Channel 4 News doesn’t. You are welcome.

Just to be clear - is Ofcom pretending that the cast list from Farage to Rees-Mogg, Tice to Anderson who appear on G B “News” are in some way within “the highest standard of impartiality?” Perhaps the problem isn’t this dreary TV channel.
It’s the regulator.

Oh that old trick of supposed funding by cuts and “efficiency savings.” Does anyone believe that stuff anymore?

Historic? Seriously? Thanks to Noa Hoffman for this insight into the delusional coterie who think this is going to be remembered except as the dying embers of a pointless government.
