You lost me at the bizarre idea that either the 21st century Conservative Party - or the negotiator most directly responsible for the Brexit debacle - would understand the concept of facing something so obviously alien as “facts.”

It’s very hard for a right wing media accustomed to framing the national debate through a Tory prism to come to terms with how detested the Tory party now is - exposed in these election results. It is detached from the electorate and has forfeited the right to govern. Period.

Now that we have an actual swing from the Conservatives to Labour, I’d be interested in the sourcing of “it is clear tonight”. (The final Savanta poll got the result pretty much right.)

It’s a bit of a puzzle why so much daft reporting (not from @pippacrerar ) focused on completely unfounded stories of a close race with the Conservatives when Sadiq Khan seems to have taken almost twice as many votes as the Conservative candidate.
