Why do I never see hypervigilance due to trauma on a young person school medical condition?

Their brains and bodies are wired to be hypervigilant from the trauma to protect itself by disassociating, shutting down, fighting, or flight freeze response 🧠🌱

Once again TB fails to grasp the essential point here. We can anticipate that any school community will include children with a range of SEND, including poor self-regulation. We need schools which are ready, willing and able to be as inclusive as possible for all to benefit.

A young persons chronological age is their age based on their date of birth.

Their developmental age is the age at which they function emotionally, physically, cognitively,& socially.

The best therapeutic interventions meet the young person at their developmental level.🧠🌱

TB is working so hard to take us backwards

We changed behaviour to MH to encourage curiosity, now we head back to badly behaved labels

Our young people need support in life, so they are better able to cope, regulate their emotions & build stronger & more positive relationships. Create a school environment that sets these things. All of our young people need someone in their corner.🧠🌱

Attachment science tells us that social connection is one of the highest predictors of good mental health and a sense of belonging. We are social beings, and our young people will thrive when they have a positive school community around them.🧠🌱

Always start with curiosity.Reframing children’s behaviour as a solution based approach instead of a problem focused approach. It starts with us.Conscious discipline starts with our behaviour. Notice it,then question it.

behaviour & punishing bad behaviour. This leads to ineffective discipline,ignoring the lack of cognitive functioning & unmet need.Focus on acknowledgement, relationships,not rewards. You will see the whole dynamic change.🧠🌱
