Today is my birthday. My wish? That I/we would never have to write articles like this, ever again. It should be so damn obvious how important the environment is & governments would invest accordingly.

Hopefully GPAG’s State NRM Program WA grant which includes funding for the identification & sequencing of hypogeal fungi found in habitat will make some small contribution towards at least recognising & sequencing new species even if they can’t yet be given a name 🙏

This is such exciting news. The Long-footed Potoroo shares the honour of being one of two most fungi dependent mammals in the world with WA's precious . So fantastic to see them turn up in NSW as well as the known populations in Victoria. Well done all involved!!

💧John Holmes🐨 ABC Australia There's so much we don't know about the biodiversity in even our relatively well-studied bushland ecosystems, let alone the more remote locations. Well done!

'My pet cat doesn't kill wildlife' etc

This is the exact reason we need more controls nationally on roaming domestic cats. Bells on cats clearly isn't the solution.
