Nice to see #GilbertsPotoroo , the #worldsrarestmarsupial getting this publicity! 2024 is the 30th anniversary of its rediscovery in 1994 & we have a great event planned for Nov 30/Dec 1 to celebrate so save the dates! Awesome work by Biodiversity and Conservation Science Parks and Wildlife Service, Western Australia & all partners
A confronting image of 3 #feralcats where critically endangered #IUCN #GilbertsPotoroo are found. We must manage #cats effectively to #protect our #biodiversity . Find out more via our #WAFeralCat23 webpage. wafcwg.org.au/2023-symposium…
The The Zooniverse promotion finished on Jan 16 & we gained 453 new volunteers (thank you!😊). New images are up so still lots of 📷 to ID. Hoping to see #GilbertsPotoroo in the new batch🤞! See zooniverse.org/projects/abbst… for Parks and Wildlife Service, Western Australia's analysis of the 1st batch of images.
Exciting News: The Zooniverse are featuring the South Coast Threatened Fauna Recovery Project on their homepage! 3096 volunteers are currently helping monitor feral predators & threatened species @ #TwoPeoplesBay . Join them & have fun IDing some animals zooniverse.org/projects/abbst…
Happy #GilbertsPotoroo Day ! Dec 1 is the anniversary of the 1994 rediscovery of #GilbertsPotoroo after not being recorded for 120yrs & thought extinct. Its survival is worth celebrating but with only 100-120 known there's still a long way to go before it's safe from extinction
Today is my birthday. My wish? That I/we would never have to write articles like this, ever again. It should be so damn obvious how important the environment is & governments would invest accordingly.

It's #NationalRecyclingWeek (Nov 13-19) which is a great opportunity to help #GilbertsPotoroo by donating refunds on your drink containers returned to #ContainersforChange to GPAG!!😁🙏 Our member number is C10289767. Find your nearest drop-off point @ containersforchange.com.au/wa.
So today we submitted the final report on our State NRM Program WA grant on the population genetics of #GilbertsPotoroo & the results are so exciting - beyond our wildest imaginings as to what this *small* project could achieve. Thanks so much everyone for a fantastic collaboration🙏
Hopefully GPAG’s State NRM Program WA grant which includes funding for the identification & sequencing of hypogeal fungi found in #GilbertsPotoroo habitat will make some small contribution towards at least recognising & sequencing new species even if they can’t yet be given a name 🙏
This is such exciting news. The Long-footed Potoroo shares the honour of being one of two most fungi dependent mammals in the world with WA's precious #GilbertsPotoroo . So fantastic to see them turn up in NSW as well as the known populations in Victoria. Well done all involved!!
💧John Holmes🐨 ABC Australia There's so much we don't know about the biodiversity in even our relatively well-studied bushland ecosystems, let alone the more remote locations. Well done!

'My pet cat doesn't kill wildlife' etc
This is the exact reason we need more controls nationally on roaming domestic cats. Bells on cats clearly isn't the solution.

#AusMammalOfTheYear results are in & again a bat has beaten the Dingo into 2nd place with a marsupial 3rd - are we starting to see a pattern here?🤣 Huge congrats to the Golden-tipped Bat for the win & to the Dingo for amazing consistency! Next try 2024 😁cosmosmagazine.com/nature/amoty/t…
