Whilst waiting for the marsh harriers at RSPB Otmoor last week, we had some blue flash flybys to keep us entertained. This male did the kind thing and banked towards us giving a lovely show of his plumage. Oxford Ornithological Society #kingfisher

We are delighted to report that two White-tailed Eagle chicks have fledged from a nest in Southern England this summer. This is the second year that the adult birds have bred successfully. Read more on our website here: roydennis.org/category/sea-e… Sea Eagle England Forestry England

Visiting RSPB Frampton Marsh 🌍 in Autumn passage is always a great time. A sunrise start on Friday led to seeing a group of 9 curlew sandpipers feeding together in the golden light. Really bringing out the remnants of the breeding plumage.

A morning in Lincolnshire followed by an afternoon trip to Norfolk, visiting Snettisham for more spoonbills action and some small low tide water action. Surprised to see all 35 spoons take flight because of a peregrine swooping at waders! RSPB Titchwell Marsh

Late afternoon on RSPB Titchwell Marsh beach felt like I was abroad, lovely weather and lots of assorted waders action. A great end to a day of Frampton, Snettisham and Titchwell.

Long soaring wings and a large fan tail, honey buzzards can appear to fly similar to red kites using the tail like a rudder. Quite different to common buzzards. Sussex Ornithology Sussex Wildlife Trust 🦔

A different raptor this time, the sparrowhawk. Whilst waiting for it's larger cousins, this one flew at eye level towards us and panicked last minute when it realised we were there. Showing off its full wingspan and barred underside. Sussex Ornithology Sussex Wildlife Trust 🦔

A clearer shot of a grasshopper warbler from this spring, just inside the M25 and carrying food for young. Amazing to see. London Bird Club #londonbirds

The pounce and the reward. This young kestrel has been enjoying the abundance of crickets, lots of successful dives and juicy snacks. #londonbirds London Bird Club The Royal Parks

The striking young marsh harriers from RSPB Otmoor have begun their travels. The paler (photos 1&3) has been spotted near Coventry and later at Willow Tree Fen Lincs Wildlife Trust this week (>100miles total). The less pale (photos 2&4) at WWT Slimbridge today (53miles). Amazing!

Incredible experience on the Birds of Poole Harbour osprey cruise this morning, an unringed osprey caught a massive fish and the resident 1 legged white tailed eagle chased until the osprey dropped it! WTE flew down to get it before it's partner joined in. Dorset Wildlife Trust Roy Dennis Foundation

WTE G463 going full speed past our Birds of Poole Harbour osprey cruise after this unringed osprey with a huge mullet! Little did we expect him to catch-up and make the osprey drop it. Dorset Wildlife Trust Roy Dennis Foundation

Spent yesterday in the amazing fall of migrants in Norfolk. What did I get great views of? Sanderlings! Dipped the white-rumped and icterine, consolation with good numbers of wheatear, pied, spot flys and redstarts. Norfolk Wildlife Trust RSPB Titchwell Marsh
