Spain's Prime Minister commits €40 million to subsidise e-bikes and expand public bike share schemes. Sánchez also called on the country's mayors to stop seeing the bicycle "as an ideological symbol" and to recognise its true potential as an alternative for urban mobility.

We’re starting to say it out loud: ideologues w a misguided notion of equity is what’s really behind this push to close schools. Equity’s important, but lowering standards and cutting choices isn’t the path to real equity - it’s just a race to the bottom. seattletimes.com/seattle-news/s…

Want a livable, lovable downtown? Spot some of the key ingredients that support one, especially for families, in this downtown Vancouver snapshot I recorded a few years ago. Downtowns don’t just need housing “units.” They need to be great neighbourhoods.

Catenary lighting is a great way to improve the quality of public space. It provides an soothing light source and creates a feeling of enclosure.

Gordon Padelford .Gordon Padelford from Seattle Greenways says Seattle's streets represent a huge public asset that can be reimagined to better serve all community members, not just drivers. Each generation should shape streets to reflect their needs.

I spent the last two evenings in community with Seattle parents, kids, and educators pushing back against closures in the Seattle School District. The strong consensus is that state lawmakers in Olympia will need to solve this issue with taxes on the ultra-wealthy.

Many ask what SPS should do. If I were still on the school board, I'd vote NO to closing 21 schools. These schools aren't the problem—they're the SOLUTION. photo credit: Alex Wakeman Rouse

Happy Parking Day! It’s amazing what’s possible when we’re willing to allow ourselves to rethink how we use the space beyond the curb.

Do you ever dream about living on 36th Ave S in Columbia City where your front door opens onto a sidewalk and park? Seems like a great place to live! Maybe we should pedestrianize other streets so more people can enjoy this kind of life?
