Stop calling it an “extraordinary day”, we’ve been having this kind of jamboree for years now. It is, in fact, ordinary for the UK to be a barely functioning state driven by the fevered egos of a collection of grifters and inadequates.

Liz Truss going is not enough.

Austerity must go.

Poverty wages must go.

Foodbank queues must go.

Cold homes in winter must go.

A new suit in Downing Street means nothing to our people.

Fix the society you have broken – or get out of the way.

This is not a blip. No one is coming from on high to rescue us, or to drag our politics back to an imagined golden age of technocratic calm.

The people save the people.
