Channeling my inner scientist by matching my outfit with the color of my phytoliths (plant microfossils) today 🌱✨. Diving into some morphometric analysis work with outlines that are as sharp as my look!

Currently working on a manuscript about dicot phytoliths. Some are incredibly fascinating. Next time you feel the sharp sting of a nettle (Urtica), just think about the intricate beauty of the stinging microhairs that got to you (the irritating chemicals are in the bulbous head)

Couldn't find art-themed X-mas cards in stores this year, so I got creative and designed my own! Transformed one of my favourite paintings, Bonnard's 'La Femme au chat' (1912), with Adobe Photoshop using 7 generative fill layers. Merry X-mas and here's to a creative AI-filled 2024!

Inventorying some phytolith images on a Sunday evening. Some are truly mesmerising, even if it is just a hair with epidermal cells, like this one from Forget Me Not (Myosotis scorpioides).
Looking forward to share this image dataset with the phytolith community soon!

Kicking off my first Tweet with this stunning 3D model of an Elongate dendritic phytolith coming from the inflorescence bracts of wild emmer wheat. Thank you Stromberg Lab for helping to set up this project! Looking forward to start the shape analysis of the models soon!
