This female kingfisher is elegant and beautiful. It’s no wonder she had three male kingfisher battling for her affection when I took picture this at the weekend.

An unusual one from the weekend. This male kingfisher was illuminated from below and behind as the sun reflected off the Grand Union Canal.

Water vole munching on its breakfast this morning.

I took a walk along the Grand Union canal this morning. 4 kingfishers showing well near Tring. A female and this male seem to have paired up. The other two males just chasing each other. Lovely light and rich blues.

Kind of blue.

Male kingfisher doing a cleaning dive. Kingfishers often do three or four dives in quick succession to clean themselves. This is usually after digging out their nests or in later months when the nest is full of filth from the chicks.

When the kingfisher didn’t land in quite the place I hoped. The challenge of wide angle photography and remote shooting. What do you think? Keep or delete?
