The local Little egrets seem to be having a great breeding season here along the Humber fuelled by an excess of Sticklebacks that were brought in by the tidal floods over the winter. Flooding on wetlands does have its benefits! Humber Nature Partnership
National Nature Reserve Week 2024 (May 20-31) RSPB Tetney Marshes, part of the Lincolnshire Coronation Coast National Nature Reserve. RSPB Conservation Officer Mike P. talked about the habitats and wildlife on the east coast Humber Nature Partnership Natural England North East Lincolnshire Council
Its that time of year again when our Bitterns are getting busy collecting food for their young. Humber Nature Partnership #EastCoastWetlands
A nice surprise this morning with two recently hatched broods of Shoveler on site this morning, one with 10 and the other with 9 ducklings. They are a fickle breeder on the reserve with many years seeing no young at all Humber Nature Partnership #EastCoastWetlands
Good to see plenty of fledged Bearded tits feeding along the edges of the lagoons this morning. It seems to be a good breeding season so far and with hopefully some late second and then third broods to come post irruption numbers should build. #EastCoastWetlands Humber Nature Partnership
A lovely day at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust North Cave Wetlands today for our Humber Nature Forums Summer Site Visit. Incredible to hear about all of the fantastic work they are doing on the site ❤️
We've reached a milestone! 10 Episodes of iSpy Humber! Our newest video shows some of the new life from around the Humber Estuary European Marine Site. The videos are recorded on Camera Traps bought using funding from ABP Humber Community Chest.
Take a look at Humber Nature Partnership's 10th episode of iSpy Humber showing some of the amazing wildlife we have had on the banks of the Humber this year! They were awarded a grant from ABP's Community Chest to purchase a number of wildlife camera traps & just look at the results! 😍
We are at Estuarine & Coastal Sciences Association (ECSA) ReMeMaRe conference 2024 in Scarborough for the next two days. Very excited to hear from presenters around the UK about restoring Estuarine and Coastal habitats.
Despite all the cold and wet weather this brood of Swallows is five strong in our workshop barn (the other chick was on the barn light and joined them later). Humber Nature Partnership Soon they will be on their way back to Africa
Massive moulting flock of Shelduck at Pyewipe on the Humber estuary this morning kept my clicker finger busy - 9640 counted - internationally important numbers and over 20% of UK non-breeding population #eastcoastwetlands Humber Nature Partnership Lincsbirding
A trip out to Spurn Point for a meeting at the weekend showed just how important Humber mud is for the waders coming in from their Arctic breeding grounds many still in summer plumage, Dunlin, Bar-tailed godwit, Knot, Golden Plover, just superb. Humber Nature Partnership #eastcoastwetlands
There's been a strong passage of Ringed Plovers through the Humber in the last week with 315 counted at Tetney and 225 on Whitton Island, but this colour ringed bird was at Blacktoft this morning, possibly of Polish origin? #eastcoastwetlands Humber Nature Partnership
2 bottle nosed dolphins in tidal Ouse at Swinefleet early morning headed down stream hopefully back to the open sea Humber Nature Partnership Yorkshire Marine Nature Partnership
The yellow wagtails following around the Koniks on the marsh snaffling the insects being kicked up by their active grazing. Our population of Yellow wags really need the local mixed arable crops to nest in but love to feed around livestock in late summer. Humber Nature Partnership
