Delighted to have had the opportunity to conduct a detailed bathymetric survey in front of one of the tributary glaciers in Kivioq Fjord yesterday with the EM2040 multibeam echo sounder on the Erebus workboat, operating from #RRSSirDavidAttenborough on the #KangGlac cruise.

Measurements of carbon monoxide trapped in #Antarctic ice cores reveals that biomass burning has been more variable since the 1800s than thought. The data could help improve #climate models, which need information on past greenhouse gases to improve their forecasts. British Antarctic Survey 🐧

As we're now on transit home at the end of the #KangGlac cruise, and I don't have to keep watch on sonar systems anymore, I've chosen to station myself at a desk with a view today. This is the view looking aft from the Winch Control Room on #RRSSirDavidAttenborough

Why did scientists launch a NASA rocket 🚀 into space from the #Arctic ? Their quest was to measure a planet-wide electric field thought to be as fundamental to Earth as its gravity and magnetic fields. And guess what, they did so successfully. Read more: bas.ac.uk/media-post/dis…

When you hear the job 'Glaciologist' we all picture the vast white of Antarctica, but Alex Bradley gives us an insight into the life of a Glaciologist, who views the Antarctic from the models they make. Have a read here! blogs.egu.eu/divisions/cr/2…

While this polar landscape may seem serene, it's not at #peace. Our British Antarctic Survey 🐧 media team has been working from the NERC Arctic Research Station in Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard, this week to capture & communicate how the #Arctic is changing due to #climatechange and how that's impacting the globe.
